District to Conduct Hybrid Meeting
BOCA RATON, Fla. (Oct. 30, 2020) – The Greater Boca Raton Beach and Park District will take the first step toward a return to normal procedures by conducting Monday's public meeting as a hybrid, encompassing aspects of both in-person attendance and communications meeting technology.
In compliance with Gov. Ron DeSantis' latest directives, District commissioners will meet in person on Monday, but the public will be asked to participate via teleconference.
“Everyone is eager to feel a sense of normalcy this year and getting back to regular public meetings is part of that process. We will take responsible steps toward that moment while prioritizing the health and safety of our residents,” District Executive Director Briann Harms said.
District commissioners will be located in Sugar Sand Park's Willow Theatre for Monday's 5:15 p.m. meeting. Three commissioners will be socially distanced on the theater stage, providing the required quorum needed for an official meeting.
The other two commissioners will attend via the teleconference app Zoom.
As part of this first step back to normal, the Willow Theatre gallery will not be open to the public. Any members of the community who want to follow or participate in the meeting must do so via Zoom.
Community members wishing to join the meeting via Zoom video conferencing can do so using the meeting ID: 858 8742 2426.
Those wishing to call into the meeting using their phones are invited to dial 1-312-626-6799. Callers will be prompted to enter the meeting ID noted above.
Technical restrictions arising from the new format will prohibit the District from broadcasting the meeting live on our YouTube channel, but a video of the complete meeting will be posted on that channel following the meeting's conclusion.
Monday's agenda features three main items. Commissioners are expected to address the future of the Ocean Breeze property, review the bids for the Patch Reef Park pickleball court project, and establish the public meeting schedule for 2021.
